Mass Appeal X Grooveshark CMJ Takeover //Schoolboy Q//Asap Mob//Casey Veggies & More [Video & Pics]

CMJ's 2013 New York City Takeover sponsored by Mass Appeal, Grooveshark and a host of others, continued with a BANG at Webster Hall last night.

WORK was definitely the theme.

I've been to concerts during the week; but I honestly didn't expect everyone's energy to be on 100; especially because it was at Webster Hall.

I haven't been there in years.  Last time I was there, before the renovation, from what I remember:
It was so hot and claustrophobic, the minute I came out the club, and the air hit me; I vomited. Ulgh!.  I know.  Sorry.

So, I figured I would go to the concert to see Schoolboy Q, 1/4 of TDE's Black Hippy crew....

TDE's Black Hippy Crew: Ab-Soul, Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock

I finally had the chance to see Kendrick Lamar perform along with Ab-Soul and Jay Rock last month at Williamsburg Park in Brooklyn.

... and A$AP Nast perform again, with a few of the A$AP Mob....

I got to see them perform last month as well,  at APOLLO LIVE, (how appropiate, being that they're from Harlem).

Rocky and Ferg, are the most popular members of ASAP Mob right now, but I feel Nast might be the best; lyricallySo I don't mind seeing him perform more than once.

Anyway, I waited on the line for almost 45 mins, it was crazy at the door; controlled chaos though...

Once inside, it was on.  Everyone was turnt up and the music was already poppin'.  People were grabbing drinks, dancing and crowd surfing, before the artists even came out!

The event was hosted by Power 105. 1's Angela Yee and the vibe was real cool.

True New York; Punk meets Hipster, meets Grunge, meets Hip Hop....

Karmaloop was a sponsor.

Bishop Nehru performed followed by The Bots (REALLY DOPE YOUNG BLASIAN ROCK DUO).

Grooveshark then, decided to bring out their dancing mascot and shoot t-shirts out to the crowd.

 Kinda cool!

After dancing to hits/performances for over an hour the freshest male crew in New York tore it down!!

Harlem was definitely in the building and put in that WORK!!!

I'm not just saying that either - had me standing on top of a stereo box.

The Takeover: A$AP Rocky and Ferg surprised the audience and it was a wrap.

Of course they performed Sha, Shabba Ranks!!

Wild for the Night.  After that workout, I had to cool down.  Good thing Casey Veggies was up next and I wasn't familiar with his music.  Sorry Casey.

He's a good performer though.  L.A. dude with a New York sound.  Nice.

It's now after 1AM and Casey got us back on the West Coast... we ready for Schoolboy.  Again.

Unfortunately, however it seemed like anything that could go wrong, during Schoolboy's set; did.

The projection screen behind his DJ fell, his mixing equipment failed to work at one point, and Schoolboy had to ask someone in the audience to use their asthma pump!

*Huh?!*  I wish I was lying.... I mean Schoolboy's fans know he crazy, but that was just really weird and random.  He gotta get it together and stop playing.

So um' other than all of that.  Schoolboy had a good performance.  I was turnt up on 'Hands On The Wheel', 'Collard Greens' and 'Yay Yay' of course, & he brought TDE new artist, Isaiah Rashad out.

Rashad was really good.  Good energy.
