If you are a certified sneaker-head or New Balance connoisseur, you already know - May belongs to one color, and one color only: Grey.

New Balance’s annual celebration of their most iconic hue, officially scaled up from a single day to a month-long celebration.

To honor the legendary monochromatic heritage, DTLR teamed up with New Balance and High Status Entertainment for an exclusive, activation in the heart of Washington, D.C. at ZOOZ - The Wharf.

If you missed out, don't worry—I got photo recap for you.

‘All Grey Everything’

The assignment was simple: Show up in Grey and rock a pair of New Balance. Streetwear lovers from all across the DMV pulled up to ZOOZ and completely understood the assignment. The atmosphere was a perfect masterclass in how to pull off tonal fits, but the aesthetic didn't stop at the door.

The venue was transformed into the an immersive experience, loaded with details that kept phones out and cameras snapping:

  • Custom Rose Display: A massive, breathtaking New Balance "NB" logo floral display created entirely out of white, silver, and grey roses which served as the central focal point to have fun and get creative.

  • Club Grey Swag: The "Club Grey" Locker Room Display showcased the latest drops on mannequins. Attendees were treated to exclusive, premium Club Grey swag bags and sipped on cocktails served in custom DTLR-branded cups.

  • Custom Jewelry Station: For a touch of luxury, there was an upscale custom permanent jewelry-making station on-site where guests could get hooked up with sleek, minimalist wrist-wear.

  • Capturing the Moments: The music was hitting, the drinks were flowing, and the visual backdrops were immaculate. I got my own looks captured by the incredible crew at Hit 360 PA and by Sam of UniqueVZN , who provided most of the gallery shots you see below!

Note: I’ll be sharing some of my personal favorite photos individually across my social feeds later, but you can check out the major event galleries at the bottom of this post!

Jabari Banks in the Building!

Actor and DMV Native, Jabari Banks

The room was already packed with style influencers, but the star power kicked up a notch when actor and musician Jabari Banks (star of the hit Bel-Air sitcom) pulled up.

Jabari was spotted looking effortlessly fly, rocking a custom navy hoodie from Paradise Brothers. As a partner of the brand, he's been pushing their streetwear staples heavy. Step up your cozy-season wardrobe, by shopping their pieces at paradisebrothers.co.

Alright, let's address the elephant in the room before y'all come for me!

Yes, the theme was strictly grey. And yes... I wore a grey and white Brooklyn Nets pinstripe jersey top. I know, I know—with the New York Knicks making their heavy playoff run right now, rocking a Nets jersey in public is a bold choice. Let’s just call it an affectionate basketball joke and move on!

To anchor the fit, I stepped away from the tonal grey trend just a bit on my feet and laced up the ultra-clean green and white New Balance 740 (Style: U740YC2). The retro-runner shape kept the streetwear aesthetic intact while giving a nice pop of color against all the monochrome in the building.

I was killing it on the boardwalk!

"Grey Days" 2026 Break Down

New Balance isn't playing fair this year. They dropped a lineup of silhouettes reimagined in their signature DNA color ways. Take a dive into the cultural impact, design philosophy, and launch schedule, in this WWD New Balance ‘Grey Days’ Feature.

While the whole pack is crazy, two specific models stole the show for me:

1. The New Balance ABZORB 2010

This is a futuristic runner dream. It blends diamond-knit mesh with sleek metallic silver and "Castlerock" grey overlays. It’s got that high-tech, turn-of-the-century performance look that effortlessly transitions into modern lifestyle fits.

2. The New Balance ABZORB 5030

If you like your sneakers chunky and aggressive, this one is for you. The 5030 features retro-futuristic lines, a heavily padded upper, and distinct segmented pods in the outsole. It’s an absolute masterclass in Y2K-inspired design.
